Artisan and art teacher originally from Puerto Montt, southern Chile, territory of master craftswomen who share knowledge and constructive techniques of basket weaving and the work with vegetable fiber.
My interest in crafts is developed in the combination of my context of origin with my academic training as a Bachelor of Arts from the Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Art History Intern at the University Marne-la-Vallé in Paris, Bachelor of Education at the Universidad de Chile, and Master in Art and Education at the University of Granada.
From materialities and techniques of the basketry tradition of the Los Lagos Region, I create contemporary basketry pieces, seeking to intertwine the ancestral tradition with my personal work. Taking basketry pieces that originally refer to functions of land and sea work such as fishing and gathering as a reference, I reinterpret the traditional pieces in fine and delicate pieces of ornamental basketry.
The project Cestería Andina is part of the Fundación Artesanías de Chile since 2022, Seal of Excellence to Crafts 2022, part of the National Registry of Artisans, participant in fairs such as Artesanía UC (Santiago) 2022, Guardianes de Oficios (Cultural Center of Osorno) 2022, and Fondart Nacional de Creación Artística in Handicraft line 2022-2023.
